Happy New Years!!!!
Happy New Year!!!! I can not believe that another year has come and gone. I am thankful for my family, friends and all the blessings that I have received this past year. I hope that 2010 finds you in good health with lots of happiness. Today is the 1 year anniversary of mytimetocraft.com. I am thankful for each of you for stopping by and spending a little time here.
I have decided to celebrate this past year by having a give away. The give away is 2 parts. 1 winner will win the entire blog candy give away.
Part 1
Yesterday I was shopping at Michaels and I came across the Sizzix Texture Boutique. I have the Sizzix Big Kick that I just love but decided since I had a 50% off coupon and the machine came with a bunch of new folders that I would get it.
I LOVE this little machine and so does my daughter. We had so much fun doing this together. I cut the paper and made the sandwich and she turns the crank. My sister stopped by today to wish us a Happy New Year and my daughter had a blast showing her how to use it.
This machine is so cute!
Here are the folders it comes with.
and more
In case you are wondering…. cuttlebug folders do work in it.
Here is a 5×7 christmas folder
Here is an A2 folder
I have some older Sizzix embossing folders and they work great as well.
Part 1 of the blog candy is this, brand new in the box, Sizzix Texture Boutique with 10 Bonus embossing folders. (The pictures above opened were of my machine, yours will be sent new in box, unopened.
Part 2
The second part of the blog candy give away is your choice *up to 800 point value* of 1 cartridge that is currently available on the www.cricutrewards.com site. You can pick the cartridge as long as it is in stock, I will order it and once it is delivered, will mail it to you. Please share one of (leave 1 comment on this post) your favorite cricut projects, experiences or story from the past year.
One of my memories from the past year that is a favorite is on a Sunday, I was working on my computer creating a svg. I finished it and wanted to test cut it. My daughter and son were standing on the couch looking at me (my desk is in the living room behind the couch) I told my son that mommy was going to cricut. He got a huge smile on his face and said cric-cut, and would giggle and laugh. My daughter said she wanted to cric-cut too! I put a cartridge in and loaded the mat for her and let her push the button. She was so proud of the Hello Kitty head that she cut and ran to show daddy that she cric-cutted.
I will read through the comments and choose 1 winner on January 9th. Due to excessive international shipping cost this blog candy is United States shipping only, sorry.
Here is a Happy New Year svg to cut on your cricut.

Greetings!
I can’t believe that this time last year, I became a Cricut owner…and now, I’m the proud new owner of an Expression! My scrapbooking friend (aka “The Enabler”, lol) had told me all about her new Cricut the previous year (2008) and that I needed to get one. (I had a Wishblade at the time and although it sat unused, I just didn’t see the point in switching to something with cartridges) Over the rest of the year, she would share with me how much she loved her little baby bug and when we would meet for lunch, she would bring little cut outs she’d done on the machine. Her excitement became infectious…
Fast forward to the beginning of 2009. The Enabler had gotten herself an Expression over Christmas and was offering me her Baby Bug for the low, low price of $60. Having NEVER seen it in person or in “action”, I thought for the price I should at least swing by her house and take a look…
The moment she plugged it in and pressed the power button…I was sold! The way those doors just swung open so gracefully, and the green light glowed from within…it was just so cool!! Then she put in a cartridge….and the rest is history.
That’s my favorite memory….those doors swinging open for the first time…*sigh*
Happy New Year!!
Jenn
My favorite memory this year was purchasing my expression… I had so much fun with it for the first few weeks! Getting ready to dust it off again for some more fun since the holidays are now over!!
Happy New Year! My favorite memory was when I first received my expression and I only had the Plantin cart, but with just that one cart I was able to complete a scrapbook of our Disneyland trip in no time and my youngest would come running into the room to see what page I had completed and the run and tell his Dad, “She finished another page of Disnnneland!” I love my cricut!
I just received my very first Cricut this past Christmas. I didn’t even know how much I wanted one until I received it! I actually was out of town with my husband, so I received an “its waiting for you at home” for Christmas. I had to wait 3 days to play! By the time I had gotten home I had watched TONS of youtube videos and was ready to go. I downloaded some free fonts, played with the “merge” feature and made an intricate city scape. I was so proud of myself I actually carry it around in my purse to show everyone!
Happy New Year! I have a Cricut Expression and my favorite memory involves a friend of mine. We were both on the fence for quite a while about whether the Cricut was a good idea for us or not and I had taken the plunge. I loved it, and the next time we got together I had my Cricut and my few cartridges out for her to take a look. She LOVED it and promptly went home and bought herself one. Now we are both happy Cricut owners and don’t know how we did without!
Happy New Year and thank you for a chance to win such wonderful blog candy. My favorite memory was just before Christmas. I had made advent calendars for all 6 of my Grandchildren out of empty TP rolls. They were all so thrilled to get them and because of the Cricut I was able to get all 6 done quickly and they turned out fantastic! I Love my Expression so much and with the Gypsy I was able to do this project multiple times!
My favorite memory is when I bought my cicut to my daughter’s class for her Christmas party. I had cut out various Hallowwen stuff and the kids made mask for Hallowween and were so amazeed that I had a machine that cutit al out. I made all the kidsames in inscape ahead of time and wo each of them got to pick out paper and watch their name cut out. It was so amazing to a buch of 4th graders. I was so hapy te smiles on their faces were priceless. We have big plans for Easter. We are going to cut images and decorate eggs. Of course it was their idea.So I do have to say that will be a memory I will cheish forever.
Thank you so mch for the chance at winning such a wonderful blog candy.
Beth,
Can’t believe you’ve only had your blog a year! My favorite memory is the first time I made a word book following your video! I had your video open in one window, and Inkscape in the other and kept pausing and playing, until I got it. I was so proud of myself! Thanks for all your files!
Happy New Year to you and yours from the great wintry midwest:) I love your blog and read it daily. I just recently purchased the SCAL software and have been utilizing your tutorials–thank you thank you thank you!
I think the best memory for 2009 is that we recently made the decision, a most difficult one to make, was that my father in law needed to go to a Nursing home for continued care. I know you might be thinking what is good about this, well, to decorate his door to his room, I got a metal plaque, used my cricut to cut his name in vinyl, then each month I make decorations to go onto the plaque for a display. He and all the other residents, and staff love the decorations. For example for Halloween, from the Cricut Paper Dolls, I cut out the Mummy and Frankenstein, and from Doodletype the pumpkins, added Glitter and other bits and what a treat! He retired from the Navy so all Military holidays are also marked using the Stand and Salute Cart. So each month everyone looks forward to the new door decorations.
I love reading your blog. I especially loved the video you and your daughter made showing how to make glitter ornaments. My daughter and I made some to give away and everyone just loved them! Keep up the good work. I also like all the svg files you share.
Happy new year and thanks for the giveaway!! My favorite cricut project I have done is the ones I did for xmas. Because of the ecomony money was tighter this year than usual so we decided to make everyones xmas gifts. We bought pint size empty paint cans and decorated them according to each persons personality. They ended up turning out so well and Im sure I will make more in the future! Thanks again!
Happy blogversary!! Thanks for the chance to win the giveaway. I came to asking my husband to get the Cuttlebug today at Michael’s. But I held back becuase I upgraded to the E in November.
I have a shadow box at my Mom’s house that I change up every month. Everyone looks forward to seeing the new layout. I have 3 sisters, the 2 older sisters insisted that I creat a PRINCESS layout of them. Of course I refused since that will leave 2 of us out of it. My older sister created the Princess layout last week, which I have yet to see. My Mom speaks in broken English and was telling me about the wonderful layout that my sister had created. My Mom turned to me and said … “she cut all by hand, she has no “quickeetee”. ROFLOL
My excitement of getting an Cricut Expression after learning what they were and what they did. You know though my excitement continues even after having it for months. I learn more about it and figure out new projects, get new cartridges that I can do more with, playing with it. The excitement and joy continued because I purchased one for my 13 year old daughter that showed such crafty ideas using mine. Mattie received hers for Christmas and she knew I had a blog showing items I make, so she started one and is doing better than me!
my blog is http://JoolieSews.blogspot.com Check under products and reviews and see my pink textured boutique embossing machine. Mattie like pink and she got one to.
Mattie’s blog is http://PapersinPink.blogspot.com

Happy 1st Anniversary, Beth! You have contributed so much of your talents to us. My favorite creating memory for 2009 (which I began in 2009)was creating my first wordbook, entering in a contest and won, but I gave it to a new mother for baby…and she cried w delight and showed it to a club of volunteers, all just giggling in the delight at my creation. The second memory is taking my beloved supplies and sharing them w our Special Ed students. They have made wordbooks for their novels, as well as cards for cancer patients. Their pride is immeasurable.
thanks for all you do and thanks for considering me for the giveaway. I am the embossing princess!
I made ice skate ornaments for everyone at work this season.I used the winter wonderland cartridge and had a great time, still have glitter everywhere to prove it,lol. But all the compliments I got was worth every speck of glitter in my carpet, lol.
What great blog candy. Thank you so much for the chance to win.
I’m not sure that I have a certain project or moment that was my favorite. I think my favorite part is how my cricut brought me and my boys closer over the year. They are forever coming to me with projects that they want to create. Even the teenager boys want to spend time with mom crafting. It’s been wonderful.
Happy New Year everyone.
My memeory is similar to yours.. my daughter loves to craft with me, she picked out bears with clothes from a paper piecing I have & I set the computer up and she pushed the button and unloaded the paper & made paper pieced bears for her grandma, grandpa and a big one for her daddy… everytime I look through my stash of svg’s she looks with me & always says “Oh we can make that look so pretty!” she is 4, going on 40 lol! Thank you for the opportunity to win this RAK. Staci
Happy New Year!
I first want to say that I love coming and reading your blog and appreciate all the time and dedication it takes. I finally took the plunge about 7 months ago and got a Cricut off HSN…owning the Wishblade I always told myself that my “choice” was made a few years ago and I was sticking to it! BUT…after a few crops with ladies with Cricuts I was intrigued to say the least…once it arrived along with the DS I sat and played to look at all the “future cartridges” I would own…babysitting my two year old grandson full time left little time for idle “window shopping” so we turned it into a game…He would RUN and jump up on my lap as he saw me sit down at the laptop. His first color he learned was yellow. This was by me learning the change color feature…every time I would click for the shape to show in color he would squeel out of pure joy “YELLOW” and laugh…then want me to do it again. Eventually he called that whole procedure “yellow” LOL he now knows all his colors as well as many new vocabulary words from our “cricut” lessons. I am the proud owner of many cartridges I window shopped for during our lessons. Now whenever I use the change color feature I remember the beginning days and Cricut preschool with a smile in my heart! Not sure who was more ecstactic about the shapes available me or him.
I am the proud new owner of a Cricut Expression (only 7 days old! *L*). Since I haven’t had it that long I don’t have much to share yet. But I have made a 3-dimensional box, flowers galore, borders etc….My children are very interested in this machine, but than again what boy does like a electronic machine. *L* They have been making snowman, dogs, gingerbread man and anything else they find. My oldest actually knows some of the function keys better than me and can properly use the machine already! I can’t wait to see what we will make over this next year. Thanks for all the great information on your blog, it is now a daily stop for me!
I just received my Cricut the day after Thanksgiving. Walmart was having a great deal so I scarfed one up. I don’t have many memories accumulated yet but so far I would have to say the best memory is when I found out about Sure Cuts A Lot!! I was reluctant to buy a Cricut because of the price of the cartridges but went ahead because it was such a good deal. Then when I was surfing the web to learn creative ways to use the machine I came across Sure Cuts A Lot! WooHoo!!!
this is really wonderful of you give away this cool tool and a cart , I just resently found your page and really appreciate all the proyects and coupons , I got my baby bug 2 years ago and didn;t use it much and I desided that i needed the E I got last year and oh boy and crazy about it , I use it in every single page and more now since I got Scal and I’d been playing with it a lot , It’s the best tool ever I take it to all the crops and decorated with vinyl , looks soo pretty , oh well no specail story I just love it!!!!!!, thanks a lot
I just got my Cricut this year with some inheritance money from my grandmother. I know she would love my scrabooks and would appreciate whta I can do with my photos with this machine.
Purchasing my Expression and Gypsy was the best money I ever spent! The wonder of it all has spread to my children, grandchildren and friends. We are all caught up in sharing and just creating. It has bonded us all together. Our greatest experience of all is finding so many wonderful bloggers out there who love to share all their knowledge. Blog candy is nice, it’s not what keeps me coming back! It’s the inspiration we all bring to each other. A big thanks to all!
I was new to the Cricut this year and jumped in head first! My favorite memory is using my Cricut to make pop-up Halloween cards for my grandchildren and finding all of the really great things I can do with it, thanks to your site and others that I’ve become fond of visiting. The only problem I have is that when I’m “playing,” I don’t get my work done, which means no income coming in and no money to buy new carts and other “toys.” But playing is so much more fun!
I have no idea where this year has gone to. My favorite Cricut memory didn’t happen to long ago – just a matter of weeks. I volunteer in my daughters school a lot; to the point that the principle said in an open forum to people that she sees some volunteers at the school so much that we’re practically employees (all the while looking at me). When I walked into one of my daughter’s class 3 weeks ago for my daily “play time” the teacher announced to all the kids that I was going to cut out all of the lettering and shapes they needed for their upcoming social studies projects (which are going to be submitted on the county/state level). I just looked like a doe in the head lights and said “I’m sorry what did you volunteer me for?” When my favorite teacher reiterated what she had said, I just replied “Ok, send them back one at a time so we can discuss what they need, the color and sizing”. The kids are all excited and I can’t wait to go in on Monday to show them what I’ve cut out for them!
Oh by the way, I showed my Girl Scouts expert the gliter ornaments that we made (after seeing them on your site) and she was so impressed and declared right then and there that the entire troop (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadets and Seniors) were ALL going to make them! Great job – my kids had a BLAST making them!
It made me so happy when I showed my husband the gifts I’d created using my Cricut. I thought he’d think it was a waste of time, but he said, “Now that’s what Christimas should be about!”
I don’t have a lot of projects to show for the past year, because I really only worked on one large one …. a scrapbook for my oldest daughter’s 30th birthday which was in August. It was very emotional looking through many, many years of pictures to pick the ones to put in this very special album. Every page, all 70 or so of them, had some element in it which was created on my Cricut Expression. I want to thank all the creative people who so generously shares their creativity because without them, the album wouldn’t have been such a huge success. I love my Cricut and everything I learn to do with it. Thanks for all the inspiration. Vickie
Throught out this last year, I have had some not-so-fun times with my Cricut. this caused me to search the web for information on how to work my Expression better. I stumbled across your website just this week. I absolutely love the video on the glitter ornaments but I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the word books that you have so kindly provided for us! Thanks for all your hard work and I pray I’m the one to win the great prize! Many blessings…. Cathy
Happy Anniversary! Your blog always offers each of us some warm and wonderful creative juice rehydration! As for my thanksfulness for the past year, we gained a new member of our family! Our first grandchild was born this past summer and the old Expression thought it was on vacation but it got a very rude awakening!! There were birth announcements, picture pages for parents and grandparents alike, and most of all the mobile over his crib was made by Grammy with lots of love! Thank you so much for helping me to remember the little points in life as well as the wonders that the good Lord offered our family this past year! Happy Crafting to the winner of such a great gift, and thank you so much for the opportunity to win such a great gift!! Enjoy life to it’s fullest!!

I was just given the Cricut Expression for Christmas from my Mother-in-Law. I have wanted a Cricut for I don’t know how long. So here is my favorite memory so far…
By the time my “little” family of 6 finished opening gifts, everyone upstairs were done. When we went upstairs to see what everyone got I noticed each sister and sister-in-law had a Cricut Expression. I quickly scanned the bottom of the tree to find one last unopened present addressed to me. It was of a Cricut box size. I told my husband I needed his help downstairs and when we got to the bottom of the stares I started jumping up and down saying “I got a cricut, I got a cricut!!” Of course he had no idea what I was talking about, but he was really excited for me. I officially opened it about 10 min later and have been playing with it every since. This machine never stops amazing me.
It was Christmas morning and we were spending Christmas with my in-laws at there cabin. We had our own family Christmas in the basement of the cabin while the rest of the family did there presents upstairs. My husband comes from a family of 7 kids, so we had to split up…
I’m a new comer to your website and I am LOVING all your creative inspirations!
Happy New Year, Tuesdee
My favorite memory with my cricut actually just happened. My family, of course, has the ultimate faith in my abilities for anything crafty. So when my husband came home from military training for the holidays (I know, I am so lucky that was allowed) and asked me to cut 13 falcons for him adn help him design the moral board for his training unit, I agreed after a quick panic and found him what he needed. I found and cut out some falcon SVG’s and helped him design the board. That is a good feeling, designing something for a military board that has a hubby’s approval. (Of course he likes all my scrapbook pages and everything I make, but the ,military side is different and I achieved that side as well).
My favorite memory is my daughter seeing all the fun I have with my cricut and wanting to “glue” too!! So, I cut extra shapes out when I make a project and put them in her “glue stuff” so she can work that glue stick magic like no other 3 year old!! Happy New Year!!
Happy Anniversary!Your blog is awesome I check it everyday. I want to thank you for giving everyone the chance to win this great give away. I have a personal cricut machine in hopes someday I will be able to upgrade to an expression. My daughter is in her first year of college and I have made picture frames for her dorm room, but my favorite memory would have to be this Christmas. My daughter and I were window shopping one day in Wal Mart a few weeks before Christmas and as most of us scrappers we have to look at the old and new items for sale. I picked up the cricut design studio and was reading up on it and my daughter said would you like to have that I will buy it for you, of course as most mothers I said no, save your money for college this is a want not a need. My daughter told my husband and they gave it to me as a Christmas gift. I have had more fun with it this past week creating new projects with the few cartridges I have. Thanks Again, Good Luck to all, and may everyone have a Blessed New Year.
Although I had owned CDS for about a year, I still hadn’t used it. Finally, in Nov., I discovered You Tube and all the tutorials and links to other sites. I realized the potential the program had and began playing with it some. When I went to pick something up at my Stampin Up lady’s house, I saw a cute vinyl on the glass on her front door. When I asked her about it, she said it was the decor vinyl from SU. I realized I could make one myself for a lot less! As soon as I got home, I sat down with the cds software, my cricut, and some vinyl and designed my own. I had it cut and on the door in about 20 minutes! Plus – I liked the way it looked a lot better with the font I used and the flourish I was able to add! Everyone who came to our Christmas party in December commented on how much they liked it! Too bad I waited so long to try this!
Congrats on your blogaversery! My favorite project (so far!) is the wordbook (as seen on my blog http://crazycricutcutz.blogspot.com/2009/05/dominic-wordbook-completed.html) Dominic. It was done for my best friends grandson. We grew up together, then I watched her daughter grow up into a wonderful mom and her little boy is my favorite kid – he’s such a nice little boy! My own son hasn’t had any children yet, so this one is as close to a grandson as I can get right now! I loved making Dominic’s wordbook and I think the only one that has a chance of coming out better will be the one I make my own grandchild!
Thanks for the chance at your blog candy! And thanks for the blog! -K
Happy New Year! First off, Let me say I so appreciate your generosity in sharing the fruits of your labor and talent and for offering such a great bundle of blog candy! My best memory of my Cricut is of the day I “found” it. My son and I had gone to our local Goodwill Store to look for some fabric scraps to complete a birthday project for my grandmother. While walking down an aisle, my eyes came upon a beautiful sight- A Cricut Personal or Create, Not really sure, but OH BOY was I thrilled. I pulled it out of the box, checked it out and then saw the price $129! My spirits just dropped to the floor when I saw the price. Oh my, SOOO expensive and I knew I could not pay that much money for an item that came with nothing but the machine and a very well used 6X12 mat, not could I afford to pay that much. I knew in my heart I wanted the Expression also, so I grudgingly set it back on the shelf and with a very heavy heart began to walk back down the aisle. Then my son said “Mom, there’s another one over there” I looked and saw the most amazing sight ever, as there on the shelf was my Cricut Expression, just beaming at me and begging me to take her home. I took it off the shelf and opened up the box, only to find nothing more than the machine and some instruction booklets, papers and empty cardboard boxes. I turned the box over and my heart sank even lower than earlier, as the price sticker showed $160 (with their original price of $229 marked out and the new price written in with the words “no cartridges included”. I almost broke down in tears from knowing I could not afford it. Then, the sales lady walked up to me and said “All items with yellow stickers are half off.” I looked on the side and WooHoo, the sticker was YELLOW!!! I literally jumped up and down while almost screaming “Oh My Gosh, I have a Cricut E, I have a Cricut E, It’s Mine…” I truly had tears in my eyes by this point. I was so thrilled. I took my precious new baby home and we unpacked her and discovered inside the “empty” cardboard box was a cartridge! Of course, it was Opposites Attract and the only overlay I found was for a different cart, but I had one I could try it out with and try it we did! She cuts like a dream and has not given me one problem to date. My son still tells family and friends of my jumping up and down in the aisle, LOL
What a wonderful and generous give away! Congrats on your blog-aversary too. I am brand new to Cricut, I received my Expression for Christmas. I really know very little and have spent the last couple of weeks reading and reading and ooohing and ahhing. LOL Unfortunatly, my work has taken me away from home so I have not had opportunity to play with it yet.
It is sometimes almost overwhelming with all the information that is out there, but plug along I shall until I get home to play. It would be such a treat to win this fabulous gift. Thank you for your gernousity and have a very happy New Year!
Happy New Year! My favorite memory of this year is getting my Cricut Expression. I have an 18 month old son and my scrapbooking supplies have all been put safely away from exploring hands. My mother knew I needed a kick in the butt to get it all back out! I have so much to scrap! She bought me the Cricut E for Christmas. I live 14 hours from my mother so we don’t get to spend a lot of time together… She was visiting when she gave me my new Cricut Expressions. We spent hours and hours playing! My new Cricut helped me get in gear with my scrapping, but more importantly gave my mother and I a reason to stay up all night being creative together and having a great time! Every time I go to cut something out I think of my Mom! LOVE IT!
My favorite memory is scraping with my friends. I grew up with 6 sisters, but am surround in my home with men. I found scrapbooking has helped me reconnect with women. They are funny, creative and generous!
OMGoodness.. I’m not one that normally gets excited or asks for anything for myself.. But I so want to be able to emboss, getting some embossing folders is on my want list! I would have to say my favorite memory of the year, was shortly after finally setting the Cricut up to use, and not having done anything with it. My daughter waited until I went to bed, cut me several titles and had pictures, titles, paper, embellishments out for me when I woke up the next morning! I thought that was so sweet, she told me she did it because she knew I needed mommy time and that I wouldn’t take it unless she made me lol..
Beth, thank you so much for the opportunity to win! Happy New year.. Thank you for all of your wonderful creations!
Best of luck to everyone!
Wishing you Abundant blessings,
Tami
My favorite memory is: Our local scrapbooking store was having a mommy and me crop. Since my kids are 25 and 27, i have a niece that is 7 years old. So i figured that since i always wanted to do scrapbooking but felt awkward going to a crop and feel so out of place because i didnt know anything about how to use any of the products or whatever. Anyhow, i took my niece to this mommy and me, and just kind of helped her (because this little girl just loves creating cards and things) and thought i would be able to learn things. After the 4 hour crop, she didnt want to leave then as we were about to leave, she asked if would could possibly come back there again, and said she needed to ask me something special. When i bent down to she what it was she wanted, she whispered to me “how could i get a job here doing that”. The very next week, i bought a cricut expression, and the scal software and a regular cricut machine for her. She is addicted and everyday she comes home from school always making something everyday for someone.
Thanks for giving all of us the opportunity to share our special moments for a craft that means the world for us to express our creativity, young and old!
Happy New Year,
Kathy
I have wanting to get an embossing machine for some time but have not had the extra money in budget. At Christmas I embossed 40 invitations to a Ladies Luncheon I host every year and used a rolling pin to do it. Boy were my arms and shoulders sore the next day. I love the chance to win one.
One of my favorite Cricut memories is when my 18 year old son sat down with me and wanted to learn how to use the Cricut. He sat there for about an hour with me and we went through my paper and cut out basketballs, basketball hoops, football, his name and other sports stuff for his room. When my husband got home we had just finished putting up the stuff in his room and he ran to the door and said “Dad, now I know why Mom loves to Cricut so much and is in such a great mood when she does.” He was so excited to show his Dad what we had done.
I am a new Cricuteer (Christmas Present) and I also received the Pixar Cars Cartridge. I have a 10 month old Grandson that I am raising and we spend a little while in the kitchen every morning, I decided to make him a Lightening McQueen Action Figure (My Husband does not allow me to call them paperdolls LOL) I am very new to the Cricut and proceeded to cut out the Lightening McQueen, I got two cuts made and then couldn’t figure out how to get the (shift) other figures. I got so frustrated. Later that evening, I thought I would read the booklet and lo and behold there are instructions. The next afternoon, during naptime, I successfully cut out and assembled the 5 inch lightening McQueen Action Figure, I ran it though my Zyron Creative Station with the Laminate/Magnet cartridge and we have a really cool magnetic Lightening McQueen Action Figure that Jeremy plays with every morning!
An amazing year as I realize I’ve only had my cricut since last February and look back at the soooo many things I have made and learned from everyone. Having the cricut made making my 12×12 baby albums not just a breeze to do, but oh so many embellishments to create. I’ve started making cards and am thoroughly enjoying that. So I guess my best memory is the many on-line friends I’ve made who can laugh and share the joys of scrapping while helping each other extend our craft. Happy New Year everyone and thanks for the opportunity Beth.
My favorite Cricut memory is when I purchased my
first Cricut machine called the baby bug now. I had
been wanting one for some time, but it was so expensive
that I hadn’t convinced myself that it was something I
just had to have. Finally, armed with a 50% off coupon,
I went to Michael’s and took it to the checkout. Of course,
the cashier told me that I couldn’t use the coupon on the
Cricut machine. I started arguing with her and told her
that it didn’t say anywhere on the coupon that it excluded
Cricut products. I told her to call the manager and of
course, he told me the same thing. Well, to make a long
story short, in the end, he had to sell it to me at 50% off,
because the coupon didn’t exclude it. So, my friends, I’m
the reason that the exclusion is now on all the coupons
from Michaels. Sure enough, the next coupons to come out,
excluded all of the Cricut items. Sorry about that guys.
My favorite memory is so hard to write about. I just celebrated my first yr anniversary with my cricut, but never got into it till I joined two cricut groups. Cricutlovers, and surecutsalot. I guess that would be my favorite memory. I would not be here today if I had not ventured out for help and found many new friends. Tammy. loopgoop57@yahoo.com
WOW What a FABULOUS contest…and what a NEAT machine. Hadn’t seen these!
Well…hmmmm cricut story. WOW What a strange coincidence…I have only one cricut story so far.
This week I get a surprise package in the mail…wrapped in brown paper with a note on side to my husband that says to not let me open it until he has a camera. Ummm Ok…and it’s addressed from my friends in my ARTgroup (ARTHaven). No idea what they could have sent me and was TRUELY SHOCKED to find out it was a CRICUT!!! a little background info…..most of them use the cricut, scal, inkscape, write their own files, etc. I use scissors and occassionally my sizzix. Sooooo they think I need to step it up I guess LOL they are convinced I will be able to make BEAUTIFUL ART with the cricut…..I’m hoping I don’t disappoint. So the machine scares me so far and I think today I’ll make myself hook it up and get started! But on a serious note…I am sooo BLESSED to have this group of friends (which I already knew) even blogged about it just yesterday.
I have a cricut expression and use it almost daily. I love scrapbooking and card making. I use Sure Cuts a lot and am a member of the yahoo group SCAL Hints. I do not have the cuttle bug and never thought I needed it but in honesty I never seen the results like you showed and all i can say is WOW I didn’t realize the possibilities! My 10 year old son has became obsessed with skate boarding this year. My favorite project was finding a skate boarder on the net and cutting him. I then used a projector and painted him on my sons wall. I think this was the most welcomed project I did in 2009. Seeing your child smile is priceless esp if its something you made and didn’t buy! He now does not mind too bad when i hide away crafting and more enjoys seeing my creative projects.
Thank you for the opportunity to win this fabulous blog candy! Happy Anniversary! I don’t have a fabulous or funny Cricut story. What I will share is that I am disabled and because of my Cricut Expression, I have met so many new friends (online is good, too)… I’m not lonely anymore!
Hi Beth! I want to say thank you for all you share, first! Now, my favorite Cricut memory for this past year… Well, there are so many! But my favorite one has to be when my DH (Dear Hubby) asked me if I had figured out how to make my Cricut do house work or laundry yet. (giggle) Boy, how I wish!
Thanks for the giveaway!Happy new year!
I have had my Expression for over 2 years now. I’ve used it for many many projects, including a banner for the Relay for Life, gift packaging, scrapbooks, cards, etc., etc.
This fall, my girl scout troop had an opportunity to make cards for the soldiers overseas. Not to send cards to them to thank them for their service, but blank cards for them to send to their families. It’s not like they can run to CVS and pick up a birthday card for their spouse or child.
To be able to do such a small thing, that makes such a big difference, has helped my troop to see that they do make a difference.

I got my Cricut in May and have made some great friends (online and locally) to scrap with. My 17 yo son was always hearing about my crops and wondering when I’d be home to fix dinner. When I scrapped a page with him and his best friend, who moved from Calif. to AZ four years ago (pics of kindergarten and pics from this summer) he finally got it! He was so excited at what I had created, treasuring memories and journaling the milestones. He exclaimed to his friends he “thought it was just a dumb machine, but the pages I created are priceless!”
My grandfather passed and left a shoebox full of pics, but all the info about who they were went to the grave with him. All I have from him are the family stories; i. e. how he ran away to join the Marines at 16, etc. My 43 yo sister, a single mom to two girls, had a massive heart attack and survived, but is severely brain damaged and all her memories lost. I had 2 boys late in life and they need to know the family stories and keep the memories. This is why I scrapbook with my Cricut, to leave the memories and stories for my boys to look back on!
And I loved reading everyone else’s Cricut memories on this blog! Congrats on your blogversary! And thank you for the opportunity to share my comments.
Wow!! What an awesome giveaway! Those embossing folders are just gorgeous! And I just love your pink Cricut in the background!
One of my favorites ( hard to pick just one)I was in a second hand store with my 4 yo grandaughter. I told her it was time to go, she was setting in the floor by a used printer for sale and she looked up at me and said no wait grandma I just need to cut one more thing on my Cricut before we leave. She thought the printer was a Cricut.lol. Another one was we were talking about her starting pre-school and I said to her isn’t it exciting getting ready for school and she said no grandma I don’t have time for school I need to go to a scrapbook thing with you.
Thank you for this chance at great blog candy and to read all the fun.
I bought my Expression in April. Of course I was one of those people who watched the infomercial over & over, but didn’t think I needed it. I finally broke down and bought one mainly to use with vinyl. Now I use her every single day! My 3 year old gets a kick out of it and he “helps” me! So, if it isn’t moving in my house it’s in danger of getting vinyled! =)
Thank you for such an awesome giveaway! I’m sure my 3 year old would LOVE being able to help me turn the crank!!!
I want to win this My favorite story of the year is when I gave my 6 yr old daughter her very own cricut. It was not new but one I had bought second hand The baby bug. She knows how to operate it really well on her own and spends countless hours cutting with it. I just recently received the paper doll dress up and she has the time of her life cutting them out and dressing them
I begged my husband to buy me a Cricut E after I saw a commercial and did some online research. He told me if I could find one that didn’t cost an arm and a leg he would let me. So I went to ebay and looked and found one that only cost an arm and a couple of toes (haha) so he let me get it. Then I found out about SCAL and sent a week convincing him about all the money I could save if I had this compared to buying cartridges.
So when Mothers Day came and I had all my Cricut stuff and SCAL I decided to make his moms gift. I bought a board and had him router the edges to make it look fancy. Then I painted it and used my E to cut vinyl to put on it. When she unwrapped it and read the sign which said “The best thing about having you as a mother is that my children have you as a grandmother”, she started crying and saying how much she loved it and would always cherish it. She still has it hanging up where it is the first thing you see when you walk in her house.
So I guess you could say that my favorite cricut memory is knowing that all the love and affection I put into my crafts are felt when they are received.
Thanks for listening and congrats on your blogaversary! Happy New Year to all and many more happy Cricut memories.
My favorite memory is when I showed some of my recent layouts to my husband he suggested I begin a scrapbooking business. I think this is his highest form of compliment!
My paper crafting has improved 200% since adding cricut and SCAL to my collection!!
Congratulations on your anniversary! I really appreciate you sharing your files like you do, I do not have the talent to create anything like this. As for my memory this past year… I received my Expression in July and have loved ever minute of it. The one thing I have made that has given me the most personal satisfaction was an Advent tree for my Mom. I created numbered tags that I welded in Design Studio and cut along with some snowflakes. I attached these together and filled paper sour cream containers with candy and small ornaments and hung each one on a small tree. My mom got 25 days of pleasure from that tree. Had enough goodies to share with others at work. I was proud of how the tree turned out and was glad to give her so much pleasure and enjoyment.
My favorite story, now let me think. I was a skeptic at first, read over countless reviews and finally decided the Cricut was for me. When I first opened it I didn’t think it would do all everyone says it does with ease. I pulled out the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge that came with it and pushed some buttons to spell my name, and pushed cut and there it was in a matter of seconds, my name ready to be used. So I pushed onward and made a Mother’s day card for my Mom. She loved it and I love making them. This machine can save lots of money making your own cards and the memories you create by giving a homemade card is priceless. Homemade cards will be cherished and remain in our heart forever.
Congratulations—-I have had the ‘E’ for a few months so am new to all this. Saw your video on ornament making and thought this would be something my 87 year old MIL, who has Alzheimer’s, could do. She made 12 of them, we had glitter everywhere, and we gave to her girls and their husbands, I used my ‘E’ and some vinyl and put on the names on each ball…Tied on a ribbon and made small boxes on the ‘E’. It was something that she did. Made a nice gift for her girls.
Thank you for the chance on your give away
Happy New Year to you and your family
Hugs
Becky
Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!
I have to say, my very favorites have been all the Christmas’s past.
This Christmas, our Daughter-in-love had to leave the country to go to Japan for her sudden death of her beloved grandmother.
She of course had to take our two little angles with her.
Emi is just 2 and Meg is 4.
With them not here for Christmas, made me realize how special all the ones in the past have been with them.
So, that is my story.
They still don’t get back until the 15th of this month, my, what a long, long, long 27 days it has been and still is.
Enjoy your children, they grow up so fast.
Blessings,
**U**

I am widow raising my Granddaughter who is 6 years old and loves any kind of art just like me. My favorite memory this year is cutting some little Santa, Snowmen and Christmas trees boxes for special people in our life. She loved doing it and I love doing it with her, what more can I ask for? I am blessed.
I wish you many blessings in 2010.
Peggy
My favorite memory of this year was spending an entire afternoon with paper doll cartridges and my daughter. We made some pretty ugly dolls, but my little girl was in heaven! (so was I:) Thanks for all you do with this blog. I enjoy it so much!
Your blog is so great and opens up so many new things. I got so excited with the SCAL software and you have helped keep that excitement new all year long. Thanks for being so kind and giving with your time for us to enjoy the fruits of your work.
Love your blog! Happy New Year and thanks for the chance to win…Hmm….favorite Cricut story? Recently, I was organizing my scrap room, and particularly my Cricut corner. While sorting things out, I noticed that the coaster I use for my coffee mug looked blah next to my cricut. Within a couple of minutes I got out some vinyl scraps and made a vinyl top for my coaster….now it perfectly matches my Cricut cover. Easy and quick, with many thanks to people like you who are so generous to share their files with us inkscape-challenged SCAL users.
My all time favorite memory is the beginning of this year. I had my personal cricut for several years but hadn’t done anything with it – at all! But I decided I wanted to upgrade to the Expression, told myself that I would definitely get busy. So I bought the package offered by HSN, which came with two cartridges Plantin and another one. Then I proceeded to buy cartridges when I could – always on sale. Shortly after, I was told about someone who was having a rough time. She was a bigtime paper crafter and couldn’t afford to to get a lot of the products. So, I offered my personal Cricut, several new mats, two new cartridges, blades and paper to her. She was thrilled and the best part – not giving the cricut, but we’ve become very good friends. We are close enough that I am able to visit with her and share my crafting machines with her. For her birthday I gave her a present of SCAL and told her about Inkscape and she’s gone to town working on that. It’s been wonderful to watch her. Thanks so much for your blog – it’s a treat to go through and see your creativity.
My favorite Cricut memory was discovering Sure Cuts A Lot and then discovering I could design and cut the programs for my daughter’s wedding. When I bought my expression, I was just happy to be able to cut the images that came on the cartridges. I never dreamed I would be able to design and cut my own projects, but thanks to you and many others, I now am free to create.
Thanks for all your tutorials and files. Thanks too for the chance to win this candy.
This past year, with much excitement and also a lot of anxiety, we sent our oldest daughter 4 hours away to college. She had been so excited about going, yet when she arrived, she became so very homesick and cried endlessly. In fact, she was so homesick that she actually became very ill and I had to go in the middle of the night to pick her up and admit her into the hospital. When she was well enough to return to college, she was again very distressed to be leaving home, so I promised I would send her little bits of home each week so it wouldn’t be so hard this time. Using ideas that I gleaned from the SureCutsAlotUser, SCALHints, and many blogs of the various users, I began to create gifts for her using my Cricut and mailing them to her in care packages. It seemed to make such a huge difference in her as the anticipation of each package made its arrival to her mailbox each week. She actually seemed to begin to enjoy being at college and the packaged also helped to draw attention from others so it became easier for her to make new friends. So, for 2009, the Cricut turned what was a miserable time for our family into an adventure as each care package arrived and brought a smile to a homesick child.
Thank you for the opportunity to share our family’s story and for the wonderful ideas you share with others on your blog. Happy New Year! and blessings for 2010!
I love your blog. Thank you for sharing with us. I look forward to what you have for us this next year.
My favorite story just happened a week or so ago. My son is a US Marine and was home on leave for a couple weeks. It was good to see him, hadn’t seen him in almost a year. He is about to be relocated and we aren’t sure where it will be. I am praying it won’t be overseas. Anyway, I was showing him the scrapbook I am doing with the pictures I get from him. I was telling him I had cut some things with my cricut. He said mom you hate crickets. What are you talking about. LOL So I showed him the machine. Then I got to show him a bunch of stuff about it. When he was younger he would sit with me and give me some great ideas. So it brought back some of those memories. It was a nice time of just him and I. Well now that I have written this out I may have to do a LO about it. Thank you
My favorite story is, my cricut stays out on my desk. My 3 year old goes to the machine opens it up. Then he turns it on and says mommy look. I was so shocked and amazed. He had watched me use the machine a few times and knew how to work the machine. I ran to him and said baby no this is not a toy only mommy can play with it. He was mad but he always comes running when he sees me sit down in front of the cricut now. He loves to watch me make things so I always cut him something when I use the machine. So ladies I learned do not leave your cricut hooked up and easily assessbe to children cause they will figure out how to use your machine or brake it.
My favorite memory is creating a word book with my son. It was fun to watch him cut the layers and put them together.
Thanks for the great blog candy. I love all your word books and recently used your friends one to make a gift this Christmas. Thanks for sharing.
Tammy
Like most, my favorite story this year is slightly complex…
It all began with a one day crop close to home. I packed up my car the night before and made sure everything I needed for a certain trip was packed up. When I got to the crop the next morning, after setting all of my goodies up to begin using, I discovered that I had everything I needed, except the pictures! I didn’t know what to do. (Later as I look back on that day, I should have either gone back home to get them–only 15 minuets away, or called my husband to bring them by.) I decided instead to play with some of the “toys” I had brought along with me (stencils, chalks, light table, Slice). That did not last very long. I definitely needed something more to fill my time…
The crop host had a Cricut machine and lots of cartridges available for use. Well, needless to say, I purchased a mat and received some instruction on the Cricut functions. Then I was turned loose to experiment. That was my first of many costly errors. I was HOOKED! WOW!!! I spent the entire rest of the day, and evening, using that wondrous machine. When several of the ladies left for a late lunch break, I was playing away. When they returned, I was STILL in the same spot playing away. I was having so much fun, I discovered that my tummy was hungry and maybe I should eat something. I took a 5 minuet break to scarf something down, and I was back at the Cricut. The evening ended around 10 pm. I was on the Cricut for over 12 hours! I had lots of die cuts made and ready for the pages I was supposed to have done that day. (Not to mention all of the other one I did for fun, my son’s baby book, just because, etc…) I spoke to the owner about all of the aspects of the machine, programs that go with it, etc.
It was here that I learned about SureCutsALot (SCAL). By not having to purchase the costly cartridges, I could have even more fun, for less cost (at least that is what I told the dear Hubby…)!
I was soooo hooked, I asked for one for my birthday (which was a month away). My mother got me the baby bug, only because she found it for sale under $100. Of course, she got one without a cartridge. Hmmm. I learned of the problem there right away. I couldn’t load/unload! Grrr!
I decided that eBay would be best for getting the “One” cartridge I needed to make the machine work for me and my newly purchased SCAL. Well, 15 cartridges later, I think I solved the problem of loading the papers. I have soooo much fun with my baby bug. Of course, that didn’t stop me from drooling over the colored expressions I saw in Wal-Mart on 1/1/10… I just have to wait a while later to justify the purchase of a newer and better machine… Working on it though, such as dropping hints about the better features and controls, as well as the larger cutting size.
Of course that isn’t stopping me from drooling over the embossing machines lately! I am on a scrapping frenzy lately! I can’t get enough of the specialty machines… I was also introduced to a machine that has the ability to do spiral binding…. I have to work on that one after I get my embossing machine….
Hehehehe! I’m so bad sometimes…
Happy New Year!!!
I got my first cricut (the small one) in August.
I got it just in time to make my son’s 1st birthday party super special.
My mother in law got it for me for “Christmas” so after watching, longingly, the Cricut info-mertial I had finally got one. I made a banner, and super cute name tags, decorated the table and his birthday hat! We had such fun, I was giddy the whole time, the first time I pushed that button, I was hooked.
But it wasn’t long before I realized how much you could do with a cricut, so I just had to update. I got up at 3am on Black Friday to get in on the Walmart Expression deal and am now the proud owner of a shiny new Expression.
My Daughter (7) and I have had such fun with Christmas this year making all kinds of things on our Cricut. She is already planning all the things we can make for her 8th Birthday in March!!!
Not only is the Cricut fun to use but it brings women together! I’m not kidding! Me and my good friend, my mother in law, my mom, my daughter, my girl scout troop, we all LOVE the Cricut Expression and love to come together to use it. I am a quilter and didn’t ever think I would get into paper crafting, but now, I am hooked and can’t wait to add more thingies to my paper crafting collection!!!
Thanks for giving all us “Cricutfiles”, a place to share the love!
Big New Year’s Hugs!!!
Kerri
Happy New Year!
My favorite Cricut memory of the year was cheering up a little friend of mine. A 5 yr old from my church fell on Thanksgiving and her femur shattered due to an unknown bone cyst. She was in the hospital for a good month and will be reclined in a wheelchair for another 2 months at least. Sadly she missed playing in our one in a million snow storm in Houston, so I cut her some white vinyl snowflakes. Her mom and aunt helped her put them all over her wheelchair and did me one better by putting rhinestones on the flakes. Her smile was priceless!
Thanks for the opportunity to win this great blog candy!!
My favorite Cricut moment is from this Christmas. I made all of my Christmas presents for my family with the Cricut. This was nice since I didn’t have much money to spend. I made freezer paper tshirts for my mom and sister, and even ones for my sisters dogs. I also made a calendar with 12 different layouts. They loved all of the gifts. After they opened up their presents my mom told me that I was turning into her because she use to hand make all of her Christmas presents as well. This meant a lot to me.
I have been the happy owner of an expression for the past year and I just LOVE it. I only wish I had more time to play! I love your blog and all your fun ideas! Thanks! My fav memory from the past year with my CE is when I was able to help a friend out by cutting some vinyl for her walls. She has been going through a rough time this past year with a divorce, pregnancy and financial issues. I was happy I could help bring some happiness back into her life by helping to redecorate her home. She was so excited to have something new for her walls. Thanks!!
This is so much fun! Mine is going to sound dumb to some of you I’m sure. My daughter and I setup my craft room to have space for her too this year. She just turned 8. We were sitting back there and chatting while we were crafting back in August. I nearly called her a toddler and all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks that she just isn’t that little anymore. lol The days seem so long but the years are dropping klike flies! Anyway we sat in our room this year making fun things for our craft blog using our Cricut. She digs it.
Congratulations on your blogiversary! Thanks so much for the chance to win such an awesome prize. I love the folders!!
I have several fav memories from the year. I think tops is getting my pink expression and being able to donate one to the small private school my son graduated from. I love my pink expression and they love and use their expression all the time. My next fav is getting my gypsy after my surgery this year. It was awesome when I had to spend so much time in bed and couldn’t do anything. When I was awake I could design and check out all the carts I don’t own. When I was able to get back to my scraproom I was able to cut all the designs I had done when I was recovering. Awesome!!
Thanks again

My favorite memory is getting my Cricut Expressions on Black Friday and then joining some wonderful groups to find out how to use it. I made some gifts for Christmas with everyone’s encouragement from the groups to just jump right in.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
I think I honestly have to say that my favorite cricut memory is from this last Christmas. I’ve owned the expression for a few years now but only used it rarely. I decided this year was going to be homemade gifts for everyone. I spent two days cutting the cards, envelopes, embellishments, tags, you name it! I was so proud that I was able to get so much done. Everyone loved the gifts and I loved feeling crafty! My mom and brother got all of the natural artsy talent but with my cricut I can at lease pretend!
My daughter turned 21 this year. I made her a castle card that had a princess on the front and inside had “Our Princess is 21″ I used the Black Letter to give it a gothic feel. It took hours to finish the card as my reclusive daughter kept coming into my work space to ask questions so I had to hide the card. When I finally finished and gave it to her that evening, she loved it.
My favorite project was my 10th year Anniversary LO. When my 4 year old daughter seen the pictures on the LO. She looked at me so seriously and said to me Mommy you look just like a princess! “Lets go play dress up”! She is my little helper and I wouldn’t know what to do without her. Little ones say the funniest things.

Amazing candy and happy anniversary. I love your blog you are so talented and I enjoy your projects.
I honestly have two favorite memories…My sister and I scrapbook together, I am more obsessed than she is. One day we got together with five of our scrapping friends and after everyone settled in to create my sister pulls out a bag and inside was a baby bug! FOR ME! I was amazed…speechless and I have had a blast with that little fella. My second memory would be this past year on black Friday when I went to WalMart at 3:30 and stood in a line until 5:00 to buy my expression! I met some very nice cricut lovers, so the time passed quickly.
Thank you for letting me share those memories!
My best memory is getting a cricut (finally took the plunge) and have been going nonstop ever since. We had a halloween party at work and I made everone a paper doll out of the dress up cartridge indicating something about them that was similar. It was such a hit and so much fun. Can’t wait for the next party!
I had been wanting a cricut for about 2 years but couldnT jusitify the cost Boy was I wrong! I finally bouught one I found on craigs list about 6 months ago. I wish I would have done this sooner. I Love my Cricut and am constantly learning everything it can do. I love making little gifts for people and watching their faces when they open them up. the cricut also keeps me busy since I quit smoking after 30 years!!!
I actually have a lot of memories created by using my Cricut – of course, making items for my grandsons to make and take to preschool parties has been extremely fulfilling! But, I must say that the Cricut is the reason for meeting a great group of fellow scrappers – I was in Hobby Lobby and started talking to a couple of gals and it turns out that they are OR nurses at our local hospital AND a couple of them were in the OR when I had breast cancer surgery in 2007 and they remembered my PEDICURE!! Anyway, we do all day crops at the hospital’s board room every month or so and I’ve been on one scrapbooking retreat and shopping (and they can shop!!) and we are going on another in March – this group of gals keeps me laughing and sharing and learning – so thanks to the Cricut, I have some great new friends!
Jackie
My memory is of getting my Cricut this past year because a friend of mine had one and after using it once I decided I just HAD to have one also. So now after about 9 nine months I’m totally addicted. We live in a small 1.5 bedroom apartment and pretty much the entire 1/2 bedroom is full of Cricut stuff, paper, embellishments, etc. Where ever I go I’m on the look out for more stuff at a good price or for new cartridges. Now this year may goal is to get together with my friends more to scrapbook and make cards etc.
I am a Happy Crafter from way back, and as such, have a basement craft room FULL of all the little odds and ends necessary for painting, sewing, stamping, cross-stitching, knitting, mosaics, floral arranging, and more. You will notice, I did not mention scrapbooking. It is the one craft that I vowed never to “get involved in”, because of the monetary & time commitments, as well as the need to store yet more craft “stuff”.
You can imagine how utterly surprised I was when, on my birthday, this past December 21st, I was given a Cricut by my 3 wonderful kids. It was the last thing I expected to open as we gathered around the family room after sharing some birthday cake. Even though I had taken the “No-scrapbooking” vow, I was tickled pink with the gift. It was so totally original – nothing I had hinted about needing – and maybe even the fact that I didn’t NEED it – that pleased me so much. In these days we have become used to the act of asking for ideas for prospective gifts from the recipients, so that the element of surprise is all but taken away. I was floored.
Since then, I have been plumbing the depths of the Internet for information and ideas from all those Cricut sisters who have gone before me, and are so generous in the sharing of their insights and talents. I am such a Newbie, that I have to do a separate search for the meanings of some of the terms used in the various blogs I’ve found (and bookmarked:). Nevertheless, I am HOOKED…maybe not on scrapbooking, as yet, but the ideas that are beginning to flow through my head about making busy books for my new little granddaughter, and having friends over who are, as-yet, Cricutless, to share in the joy and excitement that creativity always brings. Of course, I delighted in making all my birthday & Christmas Thank-you’s with my new toy/tool and the two cartridges my kids gave me with it. The house is a mess, but I am, once again, a Happy Crafter!
This year I made scrapbook layouts for Christmas with my Crict Expression that I will never forget. My husband and 2 children live in Denver and made the drive to Texas to be with all of our extended family for the holidays. Halfway to our destination we became stuck in a blizzard in the Texas panhandle–apparently it was the worst snowstorm in 83 years there, or so the news said. So many cars were stranded on the side of the road and finally the highway was closed down. We literally could not drive any further. This was Christmas Eve evening. We chose the closest hotel we could find and spent our Christas Eve in the Best Western. My husband went to the 7-11 for milk and cookies for Santa and we hung the children’s stockings on the lamp. Although it was not at all the ideal place for our Christmas, we did all o four normal traditions in the motel room. Our children were so excited to see that Santa came on Christmas morning and left a few things and even more excited to see that he came to their grandparents house when we finally got there late on Christmas day.
After the children were tucked away late Christmas night, my sister-in-law and I printed off some pictures and pulled out our Expression and had such a wonderful time scrapbooking our Best Western Christmas. It was in those precious hours that I felt truly blessed to get to be with all of our family this Christmas. My kids will never forget this Christmas as we look back on the beautiful pages that my Cricut helped me make!!!!
The best part of 2009…hmm…must be that I decided that 2010 is the year I get my own Cricut…can’t wait to begin. So inspired by blogs like yours…now to find room in our budget for all my new “toys”.
I was devastated I thought there was no way. When I wanted a flourish (for example), I could not find it. Then I met inkscape. Inkscape has saved 2009 for me. Images I thought I would never be able to create, came to life! I am happy to say my cricut and I are back in love!
My favorite time was anticipating waiting up till midnight at walmart on black friday with my best-friend to upgrade and for her getting her first and planning how we would get them, well nothing turned out and she ended getting them both for us and almost everyday we are on the phone together cutting and trying to figurer out how to get it to work to our crazy ideas like a peekaboo graduation card that we worked on for 5 hr while laughing and joking this probably means a lot to us to because it was our graduation form architecture school 5 years in the making. That when we resized we wanted and expression and that she wanted one of her own, its great for projects but also friendships.
I don’t have a favorite memory yet, I just got my Cricut and am just learning how to use it. It’s a little overwhelming that’s for sure, but I’m having fun anyway
Thank you for sharing all that you do on your blog, I’m glad that I found it!!

I’m new to paper crafting and only discovered the Cricut this past summer. Once I realized what it could do I *really* wanted one. Toward the end of August I became the proud owner of a Cricut (the little one). Since then, not more than a couple days has gone by when I haven’t done something Cricut-related — dreaming up ideas, learning Inkscape, searching for svgs, cutting, making cards, etc…I even managed to make my first-ever word book! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed rekindling my creative/crafty side and have had so much fun making things for friends and family. It warms my heart to share my creations with loved ones…they’re so easily impressed and so appreciative! Getting a Cricut has sparked me to try other crafts as well…now I’m even thinking about starting a blog. I can’t wait to see what I’ll discover and create in 2010. As silly as it sounds, my baby bug has given me a little something to look forward to on those not-so-exciting days and has brought some much needed joy back into my life.
Hi, congrats on your one year anniversary!! You have an awesome blog!
My best memory so far was when I got my Cricut. I received my Cricut Expression in October of 2009. It was an anniversary gift from my boyfriend. It is my first Cricut and I am so in love with it. It was such an awesome and thoughtful gift.
My favorite project so far was making Christmas cards and gifts using my Cricut. I made some cute Christmas tree cards using the paper doll dress up cart. I decorated them with gems and buttons. I also used my Cricut to cut shapes into contact paper so I could etch glass candle holders for gifts.
Thanks so much for a chance to win!!
