Tutorial On How To Create An SVG From A Coloring Book Page
I had someone ask me how to turn a coloring book page into an svg file. Instead of writing step by step instructions, I thought that it would be easier to do a short video tutorial. This tutorial shows you how to turn a coloring book page (using inkscape) into an svg file that can be cut out on your cricut using Sure Cut’s A Lot.
How to cut an Accuquilt cutting die on the Sizzix Big Shot or Big Kick
Hi everyone,
I am so excited to share this next video. I like cutting fabric on my cricut but it does take time and planning. I still love my cricut, but I love cutting fabric on my Sizzix Big Shot Express as well. I have been wanting to make my kids each a blanket. Something mom made them and that they will have for a long long long time. (hopefully) A few months ago, Sizzix had some quilting dies on there site. They said you can find them in your local crafting store…. yeah right. I looked and looked and could not find them. Finally I sent an e-mail to Sizzix and asked what’s up? They said that there dies have been postponed until sometime in June. They have in fact just released the Westminster die collection. While I was searching though for the Sizzix quilting dies I learned about the Accuquilt fabric cutting system at Joann’s. They use dies just like the Sizzix. I love the dies but sure don’t want to spend another $349.00 on a machine. I went online and searched and searched and finally came across a blogger who could answer my question. Can you cut an Accuquilt die on the big shot or big kick? The answer is yes and yes! Kind of, read and view on and you will see. First, I want to give credit where credit is due, Lori Holt posted that she was able to on her blog. http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-way-to-cut-fabric.html Yes, I finally had my answer. I am so excited to try it. Here is my video! A huge thank you Lori.
I have to say that I love, love, love these dies. They cut so well and I am so excited to use there dies. I found the Accuquilt critter die on e-bay and I can not wait for it to come.

You can check out the dies on the Accuquilt website here. They have wider dies but you can only use the 6 inch wide or smaller on the big kick or big shot. If you happen to own a big shot pro then you can use all the sizes.
I will be doing another video soon showing the Sizzix Westminster dies so check back soon!
Cricut Cake Machine and Cricut Cake Frosting Sheets
I got my cricut cake machine last month from HSN when it premiered. I just love it.
I have read where a lot of people are having trouble with the frosting sheets for the cricut cake machine. Provocraft has answered our calls for help. There is a new video demonstration!!!!
I got the cricut cake last month from HSN when it premiered. I also had trouble with the frosting sheets in the begining.
This was my first attempt at the cutting the frosting sheets. I realized right off that you needed to apply more white shortening to the mat then what I saw on the HSN premier.
This time it worked much better.
This butterfly is so cute!
Here are a few more cuts after I figured out the correct amount of shortening to put on the mat.
I went to Joann’s on the other side of town that I don’t normally go to yesterday and they have the cricut cartridges on sale for $39.99. This included the new cricut cake cartridges as well. I pre- ordered the Birthday Cakes cartridge and the Holiday cakes cartridge from ohmycrafts.com. They are suppose to be shipping soon but I have not heard anything from them. 2 weeks ago I was told they would arrive last week. Now that all the stores have them it is kind of frustrating. I e-mailed them again and still have not heard anything back. I ended up buying the Birthday Cakes cartridge yesterday because I wanted to use it to make my daughters birthday cake on Memorial day. She is turning the big 3!!!
FYI, I also got the cricut cake water pen, 2 cricut cake mats and 2lb tub of white gum paste and used 50% and 40% off coupons on all it except the cricut cartridge. They also had a bunch of packages of the frosting sheets but I did not buy any of those.
The Joann’s right by my house sells a Fashion Fushion magazine with 2 50% off coupons, 4 40% off coupons on the back cover that expire June 19th.
The great thing is that all six coupons can be used at the same time. The magazine sells for $2.99. I buy several of them because I use them on cricut accessories like mats and blades. I also use them on things for my embroidery machine like interfacing. I recently bought a snapware 3 section storage container. It retails for $25.00 and I used a 50% off coupon and got it for $12.50. I love these coupons. If your store does not carry them you can buy them online. Click on the magazine cover to go to Joanne.com.
Right next to the Joann’s store was a cake decorating store. I had been searching online for cake supply stores in my area and remembered the name. I went in and got a 2lb tub of Satin Ice Fondant. It is suppose to be the best tasting one. I can’t wait to try it out. I am on vacation next week so I plan on practing some cuts before I try making my daughters cake. I plan on going back to the Joann’s and get the Wilton Gold cake pans with my coupons. I will post pictures of my sample cuts when I have them completed.
